The Grounds Division maintains 70 acres of playgrounds, parks and
athletic fields, which are utilized by the School Department, the
Recreation Department and various other Town and volunteer sponsored
programs. The Grounds Division maintains all public trees along the
Town’s roadways and publicly owned areas to sustain an aesthetic
environment while protecting the community from any hazardous
situations. |

Another primary function of this division is to maintain the
operations at the Shawsheen Cemetery and the Old Burial Ground by
performing interments, and maintaining twenty-one acres of grounds
within the Shawsheen Cemetery. One of the most significant
accomplishments of 2008 was the construction of the new tot lot
playground at Town Center and the reconstruction of the practice
tennis court at the High School. Scheduled for FY2009 is the
construction of E field at Town Center, bike path improvements,
reconstruction of Page Field and South Road soccer fields. |
